I have been riding for over 50 years and Shannon is the best coach I have ever worked with. She understands horse’s temperaments and knows how best to help them reach their potential. The mare I ride has done first level dressage but has never accepted the bit for long periods of time. Shannon has helped me see how to realize my dream of having a horse that is light in the bridle.
She is an enthusiastic instructor following me around the arena and giving me continual instruction and encouragement. I will replay her instructions in my mind.

Shannon is a gifted instructor. She has a wonderful talent of being able to very clearly relay what the biomechanics of your body should be doing while you are relaying the aids to your horse. Her language somehow just sinks into your brain and then your body is able to do what is required for the action. Her absolute obsession with the horse being balanced and relaxed is the key to better riding. Her concern is always for the horse to be loose and moving freely before any other task can occur. Her lessons are not rigid with a single-minded focus or goal that needs to be achieved.
Instead, the horse is put front and centre and the lessons move forward from there. This is not say that the lessons lack clarity or focus. I always felt that my lessons were very focussed and I always came away from them feeling a more competent rider with a deeper relationship forming with my horse each time. I cannot recommend Shannon enough as an instructor. Her deep knowledge of animal behaviour, biomechanics and overall understanding of the human-horse relationship is beyond compare. Her teaching style is unique, refreshing, and effective. I highly recommend Shannon!
